Task Force on Racial Disparity and Disproportionality in Youth Services

Over the course of the past year, Commissioners, staff, and partner agencies have gathered data to suggest that there may be race disparities for children in a number of domains related to the Commission’s work, including  health, education, juvenile justice, and child welfare. Thus a work group was formed and charged with the following.

Charge

  1. Identify whether there are disparities effecting minority children Charlottesville and Albemarle in the areas of health, education, juvenile justice, and if so, to determine the level and scope of disparities.
  2. Determine the consequences or results of any identified disparities.
  3. Determine the causes of any identified disparities
  4. Elicit community input, reaction, and recommendations related  to identified disparities
  5. Identify strategies to address identified minority disparities, and
  6. Make action recommendations to CCF
