PRESS RELEASE, JULY 9, 2003:

New searchable online database allows easy access to local resources for youth

CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA—Imagine a resource for parents to turn to when they need information about after-school activities; a site where teachers can find appropriate resources for troubled students; a place where any resident can learn about the range of health, education, recreation and social programs and services available to children and families in the Charlottesville/Albemarle community.

Now imagine the ability to search this wealth of information online--24 hours a day. The Charlottesville/Albemarle Commission on Children and Families has just released a searchable online version of its popular 2002-2004 Guide to Youth Services for the Charlottesville/Albemarle Community.

The eagerly awaited search engine (developed pro-bono by Innovative Management Concepts, Inc, in Dulles, Virginia) allows users to quickly search by keyword or topic area for information on over 400 programs administered by local human service agencies and other family-related organizations. Find a list of all adult education providers with the click of a button. Find adoption resources, food banks, afterschool activities, resources for children with disabilities, and much more.

With comprehensive listings covering health, education, recreation and social programs and services, the Guide is a valuable reference for our community. The Commission on Children and Families invites residents to log on to www.ccfinfo.org and try out the free search engine today. Printed copies of the Guide are also available, and may also be obtained by calling the Commission at 434-
872-4545.
